How do you find it at Stevens-Henager College?
I called all the local places here in town. University of Phoenix wanted money up front and overall, it just didn't sound right to me. SHC didn't have commercials or a campus when I started. I might have gotten an ad or flyer. SHC was the 2nd place I called and it sounded like a good deal and they walked me through everything. It was a flawless effort. It was just like "Hey I'm going to school." The free computer and online was what really attracted me. I'm not young anymore; the accelerated classes were really good too... |
|
What did Stevens-Henager do for you?
I believe that it was the combination of my background in managing people, banking and my education that helped me get this promotion. |

If there is one thing I can tell other students, it is to endure diligently to the end. When times gets tough, push all the way to the end. Get in and get it done. The longer you wait, the harder it is to finish. |

What were you doing before you came to Stevens-Henager College?
Dayna was cook at Caddy Shack Bar and Grill. She loved cooking and the design aspects of setting up the aesthetics of how everything is presented on the plate, but it wasn't creative enough of a line of work. |
|
What were you looking for when you came here?
She was looking for something where she could put her creative emotions into your designs and where she could absorb knowledge. She says she could only find that at Stevens-Henager. I was afraid that I wasn't going to have a legacy to leave behind for my children to look back on. I wanted to be a role model and example to my family. I have to say that Stevens-Henager was one of the most positive experiences that I have enjoyed in my life. |
|
How do you find it at Stevens-Henager College?
Most of the instructors put their all into what they did for their students. They went above and beyond to help Dayna understand the principles of design. They clearly helped her to understand the answers to her questions. She also researched much of what she didn't understand because her instructor taught her to be more pro-active with her own education. |
|
What did Stevens-Henager do for you?
Stevens-Henager opened up a whole new life for me. It helped me to understand that I was a bigger and better person than I thought. It also helped me to believe in myself as a designer. It helped me to believe in something that I once thought was only a dream and made it a reality. |
|
What are you doing professionally now?
Dayna will be pursuing her master's in fine arts at Full Sail University in media design. She is also working on a pro-bono project for the Fulbright Academy to design the program guide and flyers for the 2013 Global Health Summit that will be held in Montego Bay, Jamaica. She is also tutoring for Stevens-Henager College. |

What advice do you have for students?
If you find your passion in something, pursue it. Enrich your education and keep your eye on your goals. When you find obstacles in your way, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep on going. YOU are the only one that is in charge of your destiny. |
|
What advice do you have for potential students?
If you find yourself in doubt, you'll never know unless you take that chance. Taking that chance can open up a whole wide world of opportunities. |
